Tropical Trader is back and better than ever. Since rebuilding after the fire, Thomas and his crew have revamped the menu, relying more on seasonings and less on sauces, and the result is incredible. The crab chowder is excellent, and the broiled seafood is the best around. The pizzas looked fantastic. I’m so glad the Trader is back, and I can’t wait until the weather is warm and their new outdoor bar and seating is in full swing. Great job!

The positive, the food was very good. The shrimp tacos were probably the best I've had.

The negative, the service was awful. We sat with no server for an extended period of time. When we finally flagged someone down she took our order and brought the check and never checked on us inbetween. The appetizer came out at the same time as the check and we waited forever for her to finish ringing us up. It was a shame as otherwise we really enjoyed our meal.

Shrimp Traders Review: A Hidden Gem Reopened

Tonight visited the newly reopened Shrimp Traders, and I have to say, it’s fantastic to have them back! The food was incredible, and the atmosphere is exactly what you’d expect from a beachside spot—casual, fun, and inviting. While I miss the beautiful aquariums from the past, the vibe is still very much on point, especially with their outdoor bar and seating area. Next time, I’m definitely eating outside—if only I wasn’t wearing shorts this time!

Inside, the restaurant is just as impressive. The walls are adorned with local photos, and the tables are a great size for large parties. The bar is beautiful, with stunning stools that have sunray designs on the back. Shoutout to the bartender for crafting a fantastic “mermaid water” cocktail—absolutely delicious!

Service was top-notch. Everyone was friendly and professional, even though I arrived pretty late. It was actually cool to see the staff cleaning up and prepping for the next day, including the oyster cooler near the bar.

Now, the food—wow. The blackened chicken Alfredo was perfectly cooked, and the hush puppies were honestly the best I’ve ever had. The garlic bread? Pure heaven. Fast service and every bite was a delight.

The bathroom was clean and spacious, easy to get into—always a bonus!

Overall, I can’t wait to return and try more dishes. Even though it’s a 30-minute drive from me, I’m definitely planning to make Shrimp Traders a regular stop.

This is a very different place compared to 8 yrs ago when we first ate here. So glad it is back and even better. I had the Cracker Jack shrimp appetizer and Fish and Chips. The Cracker Jack shrimp were excellent. Very creative use of Wasabi style filling, duck sauce, Japanese BBQ sauce, and spicy mayo. As good and creative a dish you would find from a Michelin rated chef.
The Panko coated fish created a wonderful light and crip coating. The side of coleslaw had an unexpected light sweetness from a hint of pineapple juice.

I love eating here!! Those girls really do a fantastic job. Love the new outside bar area and plenty of outdoor seating to accommodate the pups. Love the atmosphere and everyone is always so happy to see me. I would eat here every night if I could. Glad to see this place back open again.

We tried this restaurant as a default due to the one we actually wanted to try was closed.
We ate outside and it was delightful with a pleasant atmosphere.
Our meals were very good and the portions were fair. I thought the prices were on the high side but I expect that in an area so close to the water.
There was a non-cash charge on the bill even before we brought out our payment.
We arrived just before the rush and had no problem getting a table. However, it soon filled up and became quite busy. Our server was doing the best she could given how busy but she was a tad slow and ofen forgetful.
But it was a good experience and delicious meals were enjoyed by our party if 3.
