What a great place to go on a date night. From the low-key elegant decor to the service, Rosebud's is well-worth a visit. My wife ordered the bacon-wrapped filet mignon and baked potato and was very happy with its flavor and how it was cooked. My New York strip was also cooked exactly how I like it and the vegetables of the day, green beans and carrots, were really yummy. Topping it off was the bread, which was fresh and crisp. Our server had a good laugh as we joked with her over our asking for a third mini-loaf. Speaking of Julia, our server, she was very polite, friendly, attentive, and she rattled off the specials from memory, while others I noticed were reading them off a slip of paper. I know I probably could not remember all five or six items on special, so definite kudos to her for taking time to learn them. Even if you are not going on a date night, Rosebud's also boasts a nice bar area complete with tables and televisions.

I would also recommend reservations (bar area is open seating, per the hostess) as Rosebud's is a favorite of many, and is usually very busy.

I've been trying a lot of different restaurants in the area lately... My former New York foodie friend who moved to Venice many years ago recommended this steakhouse...

We reserved a table and arrived on time. The waiter asked us to wait a moment to be seated. The restaurant and bar were already full.

The server was a lady. Although there were many customers, she took good care of them. She responded to the guest's request promptly and the service was professional.

The coconut shrimp were nice and crispy and the dipping sauce was delicious.

Only my steak and grilled asparagus were over cooked and seemed to smell like a dirty frying pan... I didn't want to eat it even though I only ordered the smallest steak.

My family ordered the Prime Rib, which was juicy and tender. Seems to be the taste of "Keens Steakhouse" in New York. It was great!

All in all, the first experience was not comprehensive, and I hope to discover more delicious food next time.

Rosebuds Restaurant, a standalone establishment with plenty of parking, seemed promising upon arrival on a busy Sunday evening at 7 PM. Greeted by a well-staffed host stand of four young ladies, we were given a buzzer and informed of a 30-minute wait since we had no reservation. However, we quickly found a cozy corner in the bar lounge’s first-come, first-serve seating, an area with a warm, inviting ambiance.

Unfortunately, the food was uninspired from the start.

The shrimp cocktail lacked any flavor, relying entirely on cocktail sauce for taste. The escargot, which should have had a delicate chew and a rich, garlicky depth, was limp and rubbery, missing both texture and seasoning. The oysters followed suit—bland, unremarkable, and lacking the freshness and brightness that should define them. The overall execution felt designed for a demographic with a preference for muted flavors, akin to something served in an assisted living facility.

Salads arrived on well-chilled plates—a small but appreciated detail—until my wife found a four-inch piece of plastic in hers. While our server promptly replaced it, no manager came to the table to acknowledge the issue. Given the severity of a foreign object in food, this lack of response was particularly telling.

For our entrées, my wife ordered the blackened mahi special with a side of sautéed mushrooms. The mahi was well-seasoned, the only dish of the night that showed any real effort. However, the mushrooms, like the appetizers, were flavorless, soft, and uninspired.

I opted for the New York strip topped with garlic butter, expecting a well-executed, flavorful cut. Instead, the steak was tough, lacking both seasoning and tenderness, and even the butter couldn’t save it. My side of steamed broccoli was simply that—steamed and completely unseasoned, as if it had been plucked from a cafeteria tray at a retirement home.

Service continued to disappoint. Our server never once checked in to ask if we were enjoying our meal, a fundamental oversight in hospitality. Even more glaring was the absence of managerial presence—despite our plastic incident, no one checked in, nor did we feel that guest satisfaction was a priority.

Ironically, the only reason we could identify the manager was because we overheard him introducing himself to bar patrons as “Bill.” Dressed in a white polo, possibly with the Rosebuds logo, he made his rounds, chatting with guests in the lounge area, yet never once approached our table—even after a clear food safety issue.

At the end of the meal, we weren’t satisfied—just hungry enough to finish but disappointed enough to never return. The hype surrounding Rosebuds is a mystery. It may appeal to those who prefer unimaginative, salt-free, uninspired food, but for anyone seeking depth, attention to detail, or a well-run dining experience, this restaurant is a miss.

Not recommended, and certainly not worth a second visit.

The ribeye steak was seasoned and cooked to perfection, but what I really came for was the carrot cake. The serving is massive and enough for three people, and sooo good!
