Chula has some of the best quality fish I've ever had, especially in Arizona. My brother who used to spear fish and catch fish in Japan, Hawaii, etc even agrees. Recently, I got a sashimi platter for my birthday. I won't lie, it costs more than getting an omakase platter at some of my favorite sushi places, but I am still very happy with it! The staff at chula took extra care to follow my requests and made the platter look very nice. Because of chula, I had an amazing birthday! I felt like they took great care for my order. Thank you so much, Chula!

Walking into Chula Seafood, South Scottsdale, delivers a cool SolCal vibe, complete with the ska punk sounds of Sublime.

I ordered the Thursday special — the whitefish club sandwich, $24 — and upgraded the order from a bag of chips — as recommended by the super friendly woman at the counter — to include a cup of clam chowder for an extra $3, which was, perhaps, the best-tasting I've ever had. Hot, fresh, excellent. Super good.

I appreciate the attention to detail in which the whitefish club was presented in tooth-picked quarters with layers of whitefish salad, bacon, lettuce, tomato, onion and avocado aioli on multigrain bread.

Two major things would improve the sandwich to take it to the next level: Avoid toasting the bread to an ultra-hard crunch of a thick hard cracker and over-frying the bacon to a nearly-burnt crisp.

I wish I could post a 4.5 stars, because everything else about this visit was very good. I will be back.

This place came at the recommendation of one of my dear friends in Scottsdale. He said this was one of his most favorite spots and has some of the best seafood. I was very excited to check it out! Was a bit surprised when pulling into a strip mall… a very unassuming spot… I was pleasantly surprised by our experience. We were warmly greeted and elected to sit outside and enjoy our oysters and our spicy tuna bowls. There isn't table service. You order at front, and they bring it out to you. The tuna was delicious / fresh and was perfectly accompanied by great veggies. You’ll be pleasantly surprised on your visit to Chula!

Chula has the best, and freshest seafood I have been able to find in the valley! The salmon poke was in a sauce that was amazing and flavorful. The grilled cheese with fresh lobster melted in your mouth, I think I could’ve eaten 5 of them. The staff were very friendly at their pop up event and I can’t wait to grab more fresh seafood from Chula!

We heard the reviews and had to give the place a try. We first went on a Saturday and the line was out the door. We waited and determined it was definitely work the wait. They had a guy shucking oysters and it was as friendly as they come. Asked us if we were going to order some oysters and let us know he would get going on the order before even ordering so we didn't have to wait long. Once we reached the counter, the joy continued. Happy employees happy to be serving customers. What a delight!

We were handed our beers at the counter and then didn't wait too long and then began to indulge on our delicious oysters. A few minutes later, our poke arrived and it was fabulous.

A few days later, we were back for more poke! It was early evening on a Tuesday so much less of a crowd but just as delicious. This place is truly a gem that shouldn't be missed!

Good at this restaurant was great. Everything was fresh and flavorful. Ordered the salmon pastrami, Sunday happy hour ceviche, chef choice large sashimi, and the smoked fish platter. We left full! Portions were good sized. We enjoyed being able to try different types of fish with different flavors.

Recommendation: smoked fish platter to have different fish than just salmon.

Overall, great experience and we will be back when we are in town next! Really delicious.

If in fresh, delicious fish in Arizona, this is where I go. This restaurant is tiny (there are other larger locations) but within 5 min of my work, I can't pass it up. Their fish is brought in fresh from CA and it really shows. It's a family-owned place and they are super friendly and customer oriented. My friend asked if anything was gluten free and they were extremely helpful with her choices. The food came out quickly and it was beautifully presented (I forgot to take a pic). Everything I've tried is amazing.

Went here today for my birthday lunch. Excellent food and kind, knowledgeable employees! I had the clam chowder cup and it was so delicious I wished I ordered the bowl.
We also ordered ceviche, Hawaiian bowl, poke bowl and sashimi bowl. Every item was made with high-quality, fresh fish. Definitely recommend! They are inside a plaza on the corner of Roosevelt and Hayden.
