Robert Wholey's Market District is a fantastic place to purchase a variety of fresh meats, including fish, poultry, beef, and pork. It's also known for its delicious hot foods, such as the BEST FISH sandwiches in Pittsburgh, and fresh sushi made daily. The market, located in the heart of the Strip District, offers a wide selection of fresh produce and local seasonings. It's open Monday through Saturday, making it a top choice for fresh meats and produce.

Definitely the place to come for seafood in pittsburgh. I primarily come here for their hot kitchen because they sell some of the best fish sandwich in the entire area. You can never go wrong. I usually get the batter fish sandwich, which comes with couple pieces of batter fish within a soft bun. There is no fancy sauce or pickles or vegetables. You can get the sauce from the Self serve sauce, stars, and sauce, your sandwich yourself. I like some Tartar and hot sauce on mine. The fries are great as well, and I particularly love the crispy Kalamari. There is a huge dining area upstairs which transports you back to 1950s because that is what it looks like. It’s always busy over the weekend, but the lines are very efficient. Definitely come here for no nonsense seafood in a fast, casual environment.

If adventureing down the strip wasn't enough, I'm a frequent flyer down the strip, i usually go in and out certain places. But can't go with out stopping in wholeys infamous fish sandwich. So My wife and I stopped last weekend to get lunch. Instead of getting take out we decided to sit in the dining area which I didn't even know it existed but cool and nostalgic. All to give a reason to come back and eat.

A day in the Strip is not complete without a visit to Wholey’s. It’s an adventure from not only a culinary standpoint, but just a wondrous experience to see what is available, especially for us rural dwellers who only ever shop at Walmart. Aside from the selection of fish and seafood, there is much more to explore and plenty of happy, friendly employees interacting with consumers, offering free samples, helping find items. And don’t forget the free ice on the way out:)

They have all the good stuff that's for sure. Just came in to check it out as we didn't even have a place to cook anything but would've definitely purchased some of the quality products they have here if we did. Photos will give you an idea of some of what they stock.
