DO NOT BUY TICKETS if this company is listed as the hosting agency.

First and foremost, they are impossible to communicate with. They will only communicate through text message (which I never received a response) or Facebook messenger, until they cancel your event where you receive a generic form email with no responses.

I did not know this group was the host for a wine tasting event and purchased through Eventbrite. It appears they planned two similar events the same day and may have undersold one or both causing my issues below.

First off, they do not provide the event venue until potentially hours prior. They give a generic location (which makes transportation planning very difficult). After purchasing, as the event approached I began to notice the location on the ticket was not the same as the original event page and reached out with no response until HOURS before the event where I received an email stating “we regret to inform you we have to cancel the event because *numerous attendees* reported being sick with a new COVID variant” but had no issue providing a choice to “1) cancel for a full refund or 2) attend the exact same event at an alternate location” (which was not a rooftop).

I have YET to receive a refund for the event THEY cancelled and now have to dispute with my bank. Unfortunately Eventbrite cannot provide a refund because of they way in which this company has you purchase from them directly.

Use caution, they will cancel your event with little or NO advance warning and who knows if or when they will decide to reconcile payment.

I started to read reviews after my bad experience and found this from over a year ago:
”We moved the wine tasting from the original location to a Rooftop Venue, due to the recent COVID Variant (B.A.5); out of abundance of caution. We actually paid more money to book the Rooftop. This is how much we care for our customers' health, safety and security. We got a lot of compliments for it from attendees as you saw it yourself, since you attended the event after the Wine Tasting”

And my email stated:

“We are forced to postpone the (event)
once again due to the new omicron subvariant BA.2.86, known as "Pirola". Most of the attendees informed us that they came down with it”

Keep in mind these “excuse emails” are over a YEAR APART!

So either this company is the only event management host that hasn’t figured out how to plan events around COVID variants or they SCAM you, take your money, then cancel the event or
change to a sub-par venue if they do not sell out the event and fail to refund your money.

Mer and his team do great work and provide amazing customer support! My friends and I had a blast at their Midnight in Paris NYE event! We had some issues which Mer and his team resolved quickly and professionally. I will definitely be going to more Mer Events in the future. Worth every penny!

Unprofessional. Do not support this event company. Do not buy tickets for meetup events. Because it's just scam. I recently attended one of their Language exchange Befriending events. It was poorly organized. Wanted to meet people who can speak more than just Spanish or English. Those who claimed to speak other languages than that didn't actually speak more than 2 or 3 words of this language. If you offer such events, make sure that at least one person with a higher skill (yes, you can ask them during the booking process) is present in this event. Otherwise, this event doesn't make any sense and you could at least inform your customers that one or more languages cannot be offered in this event or you simply do not charge any . The host also made some weird comments and was obviously irritated where I am coming from. Is this a language exchange event where you may expect to see people from different countries/backgorunds? After reaching out to the company that this event was absolutely not what I was looking for, they didn't even refund me. No professionalism at all!

I went to the “Day of the Dead” Halloween party. On a rooftop with a beautiful view. Great time, well organized and fun people. Mer works hard to make sure people are having fun. After the event he took the group to another bar where he has VIP access and got us some drinks. Will go again and again to Mer’s events.

I attended my first Mers Event recently for Mardi Gras, the event was outstanding with live music and a DJ, the food venders were on par, and the attendees were diverse and a blast to be around. I will for sure be grabbing my ticket to the very next Mers Event! Thank you for a great night!

I have been to multiple events hosted by Mer, and each has been great! The atmosphere is always fun and the company is great, too. I've been to events with friends and I have been to events in an effort to meet people in the area. I look forward to attending more!

Mer Events held a “Halloween Bar Crawl” on Halloween night, 2020 this year. Me and a group of 7 individuals all paid over $50 after tax and miscellaneous charges to attend this event. Apparently, they sold them for $15 before they became “limited quantity”. When we arrived in costume to the first bar they gave us a paper bracelet to let the other establishments know that we were a part of the event, and 2 tickets that were supposed to be redeemable at any bar for a free drink. First of all - there were 12 “bars” on their list. 5 of those establishments weren’t bars, or restaurants at all. Two were book stores, two were smoke shops, and one of them literally told us “we have no idea what you’re talking about, we never made any arrangement with any company/organization to do a bar crawl”. One of the restaurants we actually were able to get into told us that they wouldn’t serve us alcohol, because we were a part of the bar crawl. We were one of 2 total tables in that restaurant. I have tried contacting Mer Events multiple times about this disaster of an event to try to get a refund, but I haven’t gotten a response. The level of unprofessionalism and scamming is absolutely ridiculous. Please if you have any pride in the money you’ve earned never spend a penny with this company. I’ve only gave them a star because I couldn’t give them none. Con artists.

Emails advertising events leave out important information on what the event actually is. These tickets are expensive so we do not appreciate showing up to what was billed as a wine festival that turns out is actually a business networking event. We were unprepared and dressed wrong for business networking. Misrepresenting the event is disrespectful to the event host too. This is the second time we have been to a mis-advertised event. Unsubscribed from the mailing list after too many bamboozles.
